Course Outline

This Module we learn how to build furniture out of manufactured wood panels.
It is 120 hours of the 1650 hour program.

Out in our industry, cabinetmakers build furniture more often than not, out of manufactures panels. These panels are engineered the specific use in cabinetry and are classified by their;

  • Core
  • Thickness
  • Surface
A craftsman's attitude toward the material we build with should be consistent and without bias. The product we make is reflected by this attitude. Unlike raw lumbar, manufactured panels can be an unforgiving material to work with and require the adoption of specific skills. This aspect is often taken for granted.

Manipulation of large panels brings a new aspect of safety to examine. New machines are to be introduced and health and safety rules respected.

Some hardware will be introduced and we will learn how to apply the 32mm system to istall the euro hinge.
