Vertical Panel Saw

Vertical Panel Saw

This is an introduction to module 13 and large sheet stock. We use a variety of machines, such as the Table Saw, Horizontal Panel Saw and the Vertical Panel Saw to square, parallel and cut to final dimensions on sheet stock.   The first step in preparing sheet stock is to get one straight edge; for this we use the vertical panel saw.

In this blog we will discuss how to use the vertical panel saw, safety using the machine, loading and unloading the sheet stock properly, and the adjustments and accessories that can be used.

       1. It is recommended to have someone help you lift large sheet stock. Attempting to lift by yourself can cause serious injury, damage to surrounding property, or even death. If however you are the sole lifter, there are many ways you can move it without hurting yourself.

2. When positioning sheet stock on the vertical panel saw, it is easiest to use the rollers at the bottom of the machine. Place the board on the rollers at the bottom for easy movement and the hooks on the front of the rollers will keep your stock from tipping forward and off the machine.
